I'm an UK based Experience Consultant, what that means is that I research, understand and design solutions across Product, Service and Brand so that the people who use them come away from it with a positive experience. I've spent a huge amount of the last twenty years helping organisations meet and exceed their customer/user needs but in one way or another I've been doing this professionally since the 1980s, predating both the digital world, that seems to dominate experience design, and the term UX as coined by Don Norman. In other words if there are mistakes to be made, I've made them and if there are lessons to be learned, I've learned them too. I'm married and have two young sons. I live in Uphill, in North Somerset, on the edge of Weston-super-Mare, and so obviously work mainly in the South West with the occasional consultancy in Wales, London and the Midlands. I'm a science aficionado, with a fascination for both Cosmology and Quantum Physics and of course for the more human sciences of psychology and ergonomics. For the last 2 years I've been Principal UX for Saint Gobain UK (the biggest company nobody has ever heard of) where I've helped establish the first UK based dedicated Experience Design team in their relatively new digital division where amongst other things I've helped create the Hybris based E-Commerce Platform, on which all brands will trade, as well as their first industry focussed Apps and AI driven Chabots and of course customer engagement strategies. It's challenging, but it's rewarding and really, what more can you ask?
